上讨论课老师发的英文信,太funny啦
最搞笑的是其中把做科研和股票市场对比那段All,
Attached below are the papers to discuss next week (May 16).
In order to "force" people to discuss, we shall take a vote on each of the papers. In other words, everyone will be asked to give a brief evaluation on a paper and then, a brief explanation. For that, one can write a short (one or two pages) review before the discussion; this review can be counted as a homework essay if handed in.
Again, and again, one's position (overall opinion on the work) will not be counted toward course grade. You may think the work is greatest in a century, or you may think the work is a total waste; the position you take will not added points to or subtract points from you essay grades. So, be free to express yourself.Think about this as a stock investment class exercise: you are given token money to pay stocks. In the end, you don't loss or gain any money from the class exercise. The exercise is only to sensitize you to the market. Therefore, get involved in the exercise, have opinions.Have an opinion, right or wrong, is far better than have no opinion.
A paper (or a research group) is analogous to a stock: the selling price may not reflect the real value, and the real value may be only clear to a learned person.
By the way, be very careful about today's stock market when everyone around you wants to get into it.
