Your December Horoscope by Susan Miller
Aries Horoscope for December 2009
By Susan Miller
Your chart is brimming with chances to travel, the perfect antidote for a lifestyle that may have been filled with routine lately. Your first trip may be taken within days of the full moon December 2 and may take you to a place close by. In case you are groaning at the thought of a work-related business trip with an overnight stay in a budget business motel, that's not at all what seems to be what you'd experience. This full moon will signal Jupiter in your house of friendship and fun, and when Jupiter is involved, luxury can't be far behind. It seems you will love your accommodations and your experiences, so if you can travel quickly to see a friend (or with a friend), do so.
It is also possible that you may finish up a trip within days of this full moon, December 2. If you didn't go anywhere in November, then you may get the deal of the century if you look online. (I say online because Jupiter is in Aquarius, a sign ruling the Internet and the digital age, hence, the way you'd find your bargain.) So if you do need a little break, say, to holiday shop over the weekend of December 5-6, you are likely to find one that will intrigue you.
There are other ways this full moon may affect you. This month will be all about learning and expanding the boundaries of your world, so in the first week of December, you may take a seminar or attend a thought-provoking book signing. A contract or lease may come up for signing, and again, it would be a good time to sign.
If you work in the media, say, in magazines, TV, radio, or Internet, it appears you are finishing up a huge project. It's going well, too. You may be laughing and saying, "Well, that's a change!" but it's true - things will go to a logical conclusion within four days of December 2. If you were born on or within five days of March 31, you will feel this full moon more dramatically than other Aries you know.
Little gremlin Mercury is about to go retrograde again soon, and you may be wondering if you don't recall Mercury going retrograde just last month. No, no, the last time this planet went out of phase was in September, but the period from September to December always flies by quickly. You know the drill. When Mercury starts to pour glue into the gears, you need to shepherd projects along to get them wrapped up quickly from now on now.
If you celebrate the holidays, you are going to have to get cracking to get a jump on your to-do list. Mercury, the planet ruling all buying and selling, communication, and travel, will go retrograde on December 26, but you will start to feel the havoc that this planet is capable of creating when it is out of phase as soon as December 9. If you have a shopping list, you will want to have it done by this date, for the longer you wait to shop this year, the greater the chance that the store will be out of stock or that something else will be wrong with the item.
I find putting up my fresh, to-the-ceiling tree gets me excited about Christmas. Last year I experimented by putting up my tree ten days earlier than usual. I was afraid my tree would die before the holidays, and that was a real concern. There is nothing worse than watching TV and hearing brown tree needles fall to the floor all evening. Happily, that didn't happen and it stayed moist and pretty all through the balance of December. I was a virtual little elf last year, wrapping and delivering gifts, humming happy carols, and even baking a few cookies without the heavy stress I usually feel at holiday time. You may have your own little ways to get yourself psychologically up for the holidays. Whatever works for you, use it!
This year with many out of work and business down, it will be a little harder to get in the mood. Still, I always think it is worth a try, especially if you have children in your family. Spending a lot is out of fashion and unnecessary. This may be the year when the emphasis of the holidays is on the true meaning - universal love and the showing of genuine appreciation. Be creative. There is beauty in simplicity, and grace in expressing heartfelt feelings, and blessing in remembering those less fortunate.
At the new moon, December 16, you will again be thinking about travel, and due to the new moon falling in the long distance sign of Sagittarius, the trip you decide to take in the later half of December may take you quite far, across the country or over the borders to a foreign country. This time, however, with Mercury close to being retrograde, and with the Sun and Uranus at very hard angles to that new moon, you will want to pay attention to the weather forecast for possible delays. Alternatively, a number of unexpected problems could sideline you.
If you plan to drive to a distant destination after the new moon December 16, have your car checked by a mechanic before heading out, even if you feel no need to do so. Fortunately, Jupiter, the great benefic planet, will be beautifully oriented to this new moon, so friends will be an enormous source of joy in the second two weeks.
The new moon of December 16 and all it will bring will be especially strong if you were born on April 14-19.
Romantically, things have been up and down. You may have second thoughts about someone you are dating and first thought was that he or she was your "true north." Still, with planets so unstable now, give yourself time to think. There's no need to rush a decision, so give one another space if you think you need it. Mars is about to go retrograde, and because Mars is your ruler AND Mars is in your fifth house of true love, you may reconsider your feelings for someone one way or the other, or need to revisit a problem you had together but that was never really solved. Mars will be out of commission until March 10, so the situation may not be fully clarified until then. Take your time.
If you are married or in a very long-term established relationship, this won't affect you because we look to the seventh house of commitment for your outlook, not the fifth house of new love. You may instead be focused a child and what to do to help him. Again, take your time to reflect on the situation and don't lock horns or put undue pressure on your child. With Mars retrograde, an old problem that was never resolved may now resurface, so you will have a chance to revisit your concern. You may not see progress immediately, but more likely will after Mars goes direct on March 10. Keep working on finding a solution, however, as it would not be a case of sitting back and setting your alarm clock for March 10. The process of reaching the answer will be as important to you and your child as the outcome.
Despite Mars going retrograde, you do have a string of outstanding fun days in store in December, so now let's turn our attention to those. If you are single and are not as close to your steady date (due to Mars' out of phase position, which started to slow down as early as September, and by now is crawling in a very slow orbit), then you have a good chance to make the acquaintance of new people while you wait to see if your main relationship improves in the spring.
Your first special day will come December 10, when the mighty Sun and Mars will be in lovely sync. This is a Thursday, and sure to be a day to enjoy. Travel and love will be linked in a big way, but so will study and discussion. This means you may find love on a campus or in a classroom setting. Or, it may simply mean that you find love with someone you engage in debate and suddenly feel enormous respect, or fascination for someone you had not felt a great deal for previously. This day, December 10, is such a good day I would like you to put a star on it and use it for just about any purposes.
For love, things will get even better on December 17 when Venus and her lover Mars make a purely sensational aspect together. This is a classic, golden beam between two planets whose job it is to ignite the spark of new love or rekindle present or past love. If you get invited to a party on this Thursday night, you must go! Venus will be in Sagittarius and Mars in Leo, so both are in fellow fire signs. What wonderful luck! These two will peak in harmony on December 17, but the beauty they create together will have wider influence, extending from December 12 to 20. Does your birthday fall on or within five days of April 9? Then you will get a double dip of luck!
Over the weekend of December 19-20 and continuing on Monday, December 21, Jupiter and Neptune will make their third and final rendezvous this year, not to meet again in this decade, not until 2022. This lovely aspect is a gift, and coming so close to the holidays is quite special, for it brings a message of hope, happiness, and love. With Jupiter, the planet of gifts and luck, meeting with Neptune, planet of dreams and inspirations, in your eleventh house of hopes and wishes, this aspect may prove to you that dreams really do come true. Something you dearly want - spiritually or materially - may now be close enough to touch. Friends will again play a prominent role in the happiness you feel.
At the very same time, December 20, Venus and Jupiter will be in a lyrical, loving aspect, sprinkling you with pixie dust and allowing you to shine at any gathering.
If you were born within five days of April 14, you will certainly notice the soft and haunting perfume in the air that Jupiter and Neptune and Venus will generate for you. All Aries will be happy, but you perhaps a bit more!
If you celebrate Christmas, this year December 25 has the moon in Aries, making that day a standout for you. (Hanukkah has the moon in Scorpio, not quite as special, not unless you have Scorpio rising.)
One thing everyone will feel, however, is the Sun and moon in hard angle to Saturn on December 24 and 25, so everyone, of every sign, will feel a bit overworked and possibly in need of rest. This will be the right holiday to pitch in to help the ones who are making dinner or who may be suffering at holiday time because they are out of work, not feeling well, or low on cash. Being sensitive to others' situations will be the greatest gift you can give this holiday season.
The month ends December 31 on a full moon lunar eclipse in Cancer 10 degrees. Eclipses often bring completely unanticipated events, and this one will light your house of home and family. At the same time, migrating on-the-move planets are about to put enormous emphasis on your career, too. Both areas of your life will be on your mind, but the greater emphasis seems to be on your home / living situation or a family member, possibly a female (such as your mother or favorite great aunt).
Later, in two weeks on the coming solar eclipse, January 15, you will hear of a very prestigious career opportunity that you will want to investigate. As you see, you are about to start the New Year with much happening. With Saturn sending hard rays to both career and home, you may feel pulled in both directions at the eclipse December 31, not sure which to give your first attention. The answer is your family or home situation - your career will still be there a week or two later and you will not have lost any chances to increase your status or success.
For New Year's Eve, you might want to stay close to home rather than be on the road. Fortunately, the emphasis on travel won't be as strong in your chart at month's end, so you might be content to stay close to home and hearth. With a full moon eclipse in Cancer, you may move to a new space, or you may hear sudden news about a close relative, most likely a female. There may be changes within your home space, say, with a roommate or with a condition involving your home. Cancer is associated with water, so watch out for any water damage. (Don't answer the phone if the water is running!)
With New Year's Eve bringing a rather tough eclipse, you may want to stay home or be at your parents' home for the holiday. If you are in your apartment or house, you may want invite a few friends over. Or, if you are going to a party, hire a driver to take you home, or better yet, stay in a bed and breakfast down the block. Cancer, the sign where the full moon will fall, is a highly emotional sign, and it also rules liquids. This indicates that drinking could become a problem, if not for you, for others around you. Make safety a priority and keep your cell phone on and powered up, lest a family member urgently need to reach you. Does your birthday fall within five days of March 30? You will want to pay special attention to the days surrounding this eclipse.
Dear Aries, you have a lot to look forward to in 2010, despite the possibly jarring events of December 31. Your career is about to take off and bring very exciting developments for your year ahead. You won't have to wait long for that to happen either. And despite your fears, romance will become much more stable in the coming months, particularly from March through early June. Keep the faith! Happy New Year!
Summary
Lots of travel will fill this holiday month. First, as you begin the month, a full moon on December 2 may take you on an excursion to a nearby town, perhaps to do holiday shopping over the coming weekend, December 5-6. Good idea. With Mercury about to retrograde on December 26, stores will be low on stock, so shop for gifts early in the month to avoid disappointment. Mars, your ruler, will be in a cheery mood, and will send bright greetings to that full moon December 2, suggesting that no matter what the reason for your trip, you will enjoy it. Friends will be just the best to you!
Later, at the new moon, December 16 and in days following, you are likely to be on the road again, but will go a much greater distance. With the Sun and Uranus at odds, you'll have to stay flexible when a few things go haywire, possibly due to weather delays. Factor in more time than you think you need. The best part of your trip will involve old friends who will be eager to trade news and catch up.
If you have any key initiatives to make, act early in the month, as Mars - your guardian planet - will begin to retrograde December 20. Its orbit will get slower as you get to December 20. A fast orbit from any planet is what you need to make progress, so if you can't quite get things launched and sealed quickly enough, table your actions until after March 10 when Mars will be in the best form it's been in months.
There is another reason to consider putting off key actions until spring. As mentioned earlier, Mercury will be retrograde December 26 to January 16, but you will feel the slowdowns as soon as December 9. Talks and conditions will be in flux - you'll be glad you waited until March to make your initiations.
In matters of career, your creativity will run at peak levels and will remain so for many more months. Write down your thoughts lest you forget them. If you work in the media - broadcasting, publishing, Internet, digital media, or telecommunications - you will be able to make impressive progress after December 16. Alternatively, if you work in the international arena, new offers will practically drop out of the sky.
If invited to a holiday party on December 10, it will be a "must" to attend, as it will be brimming with lively, stylish guests and holiday cheer.
Two other fabulous days for attending holiday festivities will be December 16 and 17, when Venus will flirt with her handsome lover, Mars. With both planets in fire signs like yours, it's likely you'll find yourself under the mistletoe, kissing the hottest person at the party.
Another day to put a gold star on: Sunday, December 20, when Venus in Sagittarius will beam shimmering rays to Jupiter, the generous planet of happiness and good fortune. The moon will do her part by being in Aquarius, ensuring that on this day you'll shine.
A different, more serious mood will surface at the lunar eclipse in Cancer, on December 31, when you'll want to either be back at home base or to plan on spending more time with your parents. Dramatic news may involve your physical home or other property, or may concern a roommate or family member. You'll need to be there to respond to events.
At this eclipse, the sands of life will shift and you will likely feel the passage of time. You will need all your attention to absorb information as it comes in, and to direct your response to what you hear. One chapter will now end. Think back to past months, July through early September. News you heard back then as only a whisper may now become a shout.
If you were born on March 30, you will feel the news most dramatically. Give a small party at home to celebrate the New Year, or spend it cozily with your partner, "just us two," as a quiet romantic celebration seems to suit you best this year.
