A touching story! U must read!!!

This is really a great story!!

) \! M/ o. U% Q6 E7 F) F; gOne day, when I was a freshman in high school,
% [+ l5 M8 V! h) k1 L% @) A: T' s
I saw a kid from my class was walking home from school. 0 w9 G1 Z- A6 a+ ~5 E+ N& w; f

" M! t; Y4 J9 e, A+ C4 }, h" PHis name was Kyle. $ p! [8 @  k% Y
* g2 n, ~% `  x: I; q
  K( n2 R1 r$ d: s
It looked like he was carrying all of his books.
: l5 {9 y6 o' |# ^$ G4 ?) s- b/ J. B% c$ o0 ?( @9 g
# H. W1 t' ^: X  x
I thought to myself, "Why would anyone bring home all his books on a Friday? 1 k& t9 v- H7 {; E
1 ~6 Q5 q% d0 h
He must really be a nerd."
7 z% |8 N( e: Y# Y8 H5 i& B
( S$ t$ Y- R+ ]/ O9 t7 @" d+ c  I' n8 W( G/ A: ?! s6 @$ H9 F& s& j
I had quite a weekend planned (parties and a football game with my friends tomorrow afternoon), so I shrugged my shoulders and went on.
6 h: X$ A9 U3 f/ J7 r* M1 `0 A! s, i6 u/ I/ s
/ \( u6 M: g- B) B  n2 b
As I was walking, I saw a bunch of kids running toward him. . V; v/ ~; K2 b2 _/ w3 I' L! j
- r9 j8 X7 p# ?+ q1 H7 O
" l# y2 r& A( c
They ran at him, knocking all his books out of his arms and tripping him so he landed in the dirt.
* N3 N" I1 y' L+ B
+ X% N( I( s# U# s! p/ ~! }
  c; J2 S/ D; M4 zHis glasses went flying, and I saw them land in the grass about ten feet from him.
" g+ J. b% O, Y% g! L  g3 H5 r. n2 ^- J7 s9 G
3 t4 W) Y9 f, k/ U8 C+ Y% B3 h
He looked up and I saw this terrible sadness in his eyes
7 t& ^; m4 \( ?! x/ y- R" t1 Y

: ?6 {  |: |+ D( n+ D7 D6 V7 rMy heart went out to him. So, I jogged over to him and as he crawled around looking for his glasses, and I saw a tear in his eye. ! B, R0 v- J/ k7 H: t
+ }( {- E0 z' z9 |0 y
0 [/ j- \% R; A* ?1 L$ f2 Z
As I handed him his glasses, I said, "Those guys are jerks. : q, L3 Z" o  u5 i' r

. U# T4 n: v: i" A+ c3 w3 e6 z' p& N
They really should get lives
" p" t/ r2 E/ E9 F1 r" y1 l
1 |% |+ m! \4 [- x
0 H- O; ~5 l# T" y" He looked at me and said, "Hey thanks!" 5 U: r! I! [3 h1 w5 r" t* C9 f

% w5 Q! z. O1 u+ |8 Z! S
; M3 a: d! ^+ I6 J- F# M0 aThere was a big smile on his face. ' w6 A# J, s4 ^6 E& U! X) r) _, }
0 e  x! {1 ^+ M3 U
% `! c5 W0 G$ `! K8 T8 @/ _
It was one of those smiles that showed real gratitude. # t% U& U& d# N7 f
* E: m1 s3 A  Z8 _4 m; M
4 {; u% X' _: i6 R: }$ V) }

I helped him pick up his books, and asked him where he lived
& w% L" l, E6 p1 w  V7 Z
3 T0 y3 v$ M* F$ x5 [
& q5 b/ }: j& ^+ j. aAs it turned out, he lived near me, so I asked him why I had never seen him before. 8 s  t* r. O! X9 N9 o  [% D$ D: Y: N

) q# i; b5 o3 |3 O; B# N, q$ p: AHe said he had gone to private school before now. ) ]! g7 f3 S* Q
. m) {/ Z$ p* V& M
I would have never hung out with a private school kid before. 1 ^) p+ e7 E# I6 E) _$ V6 @
- p# p3 ]" F  {
We talked all the way home, and I carried some of his books. ) I/ C' t  p1 U0 a$ l6 A$ n
8 h/ t) O( ^' h( B/ H
/ _5 w  L! d( I7 ?# z4 ^, o7 ]
He turned out to be a pretty cool kid.
; ]- p- R5 H* b# Q$ ~# R7 M5 F9 R/ t' k( m( W: [; g
1 n9 G: K* g5 K( p0 O* i( s6 d
I asked him if he wanted to play a little football with my friends
4 n, ?% C8 N( u. y2 d9 h' {- A( u
He said yes. 7 p" e+ l2 a$ c* m% K5 A; o2 Q3 E, `
+ }0 V, j! W+ x' r- b

% u7 ^) U, m7 Q2 }5 Z! J7 HWe hung out all weekend and the more I got to know Kyle, the more I liked him, and my friends thought the same of him. 5 y9 K* C9 q/ U$ r

0 g% V$ k1 s( A+ B* D. F9 [3 ~
8 {$ {: R! F6 \+ e; ~. VMonday morning came, and there was Kyle with the huge stack of books again. ( Z; q0 W3 M$ R* J+ Y

1 \* E$ ?$ U0 b' gI stopped him and said, "Boy, you are gonna really build some serious muscles with this pile of books everyday! ( s  M9 ]0 r; n" }6 h7 R6 M8 w

& [+ H# n- B3 E* R# e) i% M, b0 `8 `/ ?6 p' b6 W- m* o/ z
"He just laughed and handed me half the books. " @7 f  D. _5 J3 ]

( Z9 L- g& j, l+ Q) R  A. Y$ U+ R2 _9 D6 `( S3 a6 _3 Z$ m$ W
Over the next four years, Kyle and I became best friends.
$ @- d, B  u' j$ x9 g" \* {3 Z- X# s. N8 |
% ^+ d  |$ p4 E- F# |
When we were seniors, we began to think about college. # v, V+ @% V+ r+ S* `3 |

; W0 B* r. y  U) t
8 O$ Z$ \! G5 j4 [& ^8 HKyle decided on Georgetown, and I
* K  r+ _" }% I/ s, Uwas going to Duke.
0 X) S% O+ V( ^. J" z
+ L$ T, q- {0 \8 i: u4 B( y0 v( m3 a0 j; G  y: T8 w
I knew that we would always be friends, that the miles would never be a problem.
9 M. y# H! U; v4 ?1 l$ ~
. n( [2 n) z( ]. t1 m( U4 f7 N+ ]# b! c2 n7 r  r( H4 Z  j: `
He was going to be a doctor, and I was going for business on a football scholarship.

: e) v9 W5 g' o3 q0 n" {5 D1 E" J; x

3 R# d4 @$ o# \' e! X/ gKyle was valedictorian of our class.

I teased him all the time about being a nerd.

) K1 D6 b( o' O& ~# i4 C# a  e
He had to prepare a speech for graduation. 1 O5 C2 k2 G7 _/ G
- M" ]4 O" r0 g. C& E( p/ r

. o+ f& `0 V# d' p# o5 z, J% yI was so glad it wasn't me having to get up there and speak : s1 F3 F. q2 I5 e& i( Y

2 |% x/ x& }; A8 ^5 aGraduation day, I saw Kyle.
5 t( e6 ^7 ^9 y' Y. p/ H6 z: S6 s5 H) \$ L6 Z
% f2 v! M! w# A; k' w2 e* ~0 t
He looked great.
6 l! {5 N1 D* Z* U+ P; b2 i# T3 a  _8 i9 T! M4 P; f* K
; ^, R* u! U& \4 I7 T
He was one of those guys that really found himself during high school.

He filled out and actually looked good in glasses.

He had more dates than I had and all the girls loved him. $ @# ]0 N9 D- i, I1 n7 j

Boy, sometimes I was jealous.

% f6 M; J# x. J5 v/ Z6 j
Today was one of those days. . B1 L; K! a" ~/ X

% e5 }4 k8 F2 s
4 b& A8 Y4 n( i8 sI could see that he was nervous about his speech. 8 H2 n! u0 D( q& D# e, _& [& f* ?5 C

6 V/ u2 v; d) ~& [8 R6 O- t/ g- T! ]: Q9 r- m! ^8 X& Y
So, I smacked him on the back and said, "Hey, big guy, you'll be great!"

" B! a$ n6 @& J2 \/ D  I
& k0 Z$ z) v2 ]" J% YHe looked at me with one of those looks (the really grateful one) and smiled. 9 ~( O; t9 X( C* L: O, u+ Q

  J) |4 y, [4 ~# f: i5 a2 a
. `/ t" @, Q" A9 C6 y& c
  s1 W/ L* {6 L/ ~"Thanks," he said. # O4 ~/ C) w- p9 D+ r' O

. p4 N& p/ G. `- E/ Q! E) wAs he started his speech, he cleared his throat, and began

+ g9 E, u; ~+ N8 f: O"Graduation is a time to thank those who helped you make it through those tough years.

Your parents, your teachers, your siblings, maybe a coach...but mostly your friends... 8 ^( w1 I+ F* U/ Q  U) K, u

9 q  c4 q5 l0 H& h2 lI am here to tell all of you that being a friend to someone is the best gift you can give them. 2 C+ {! c' c: {! L- O

I just looked at my friend with disbelief as he told the story of the first day we met. 0 N  o2 \8 {6 F9 l

$ l9 Y% t! Y1 ~7 F3 B4 O) W. Z4 tHe had planned to kill himself over the weekend. ; P8 h" P* b9 v: K0 w% s

! n9 s& o$ b( }3 e1 b
+ x9 a$ D$ r* o: m7 h0 o7 |$ xHe talked of how he had cleaned out his locker so his Mom wouldn't have to do it later and was carrying his stuff home. * F$ u/ ]1 l* P# G, e) o
# ]: d4 C' j) _* a1 }7 T9 P. ~

: _5 O4 K$ {. B6 A. E0 n! wHe looked hard at me and gave me a little smile. : C  W0 f( Y3 D( H0 J1 m8 Y

: V3 e- o1 P; z6 Z  W! F"Thankfully, I was saved. ) `) d% w1 {3 S% u& i7 a% u

& I4 Y$ E3 c3 d; Z/ E
2 h) k& r, E; G: M1 b. \" q9 j: s6 O' j2 S" E' U
My friend saved me from doing the unspeakable."
+ W$ ^! ~/ j, e
9 c1 Q, V! s) k$ v! TI heard the gasp go through the crowd as this handsome, popular boy told us all about his weakest moment.
8 o9 |+ L+ J) u0 W; h5 F& {( `2 ^9 x2 j5 [2 M- _5 [9 ^0 ~
I saw his Mom and dad looking at me and smiling that same grateful smile.
, h7 ~/ E' {7 F9 z5 s* c+ ^
) ^1 F9 a9 Z9 @Not until that moment did I realize its depth.
( E3 Y+ U7 h1 d" g7 j& z* b
; E& U/ I/ M8 ^Never underestimate the power of your actions. ! m+ W& g3 e4 p( _, \9 L0 b

+ `: O- s% z" o% s! x+ WWith one small gesture you can change a person's life.

1 J% z; F9 G* U8 X4 m& mFor better or for worse.
* E( L8 W3 p( ~( @( s7 z5 F( X6 ^* l2 m8 Z. {+ u- Z/ R; _/ G$ R: }
God puts us all in each other's lives to impact one another in some way. & \5 k$ f0 h" r+ n$ W1 D

Look for God in others.

A nice guy...but the story it's not so touching...at least for me...
