“To take notice of safe, the slippery are very crafty.” Did that make any sense to you? well, its an example of “CHINGLISH”, a language  barrier that the Chinese are trying to fix before the world arrives at their doorsteps for the Olympics. CNN's John Voss gets lost in translation.0 t, \: x4 `6 p* W; F1 b

Sometimes when English and Chinese collide, the result could be downright terrifying and if you think “keep off the grass” would be fairly simple, in China, that can translate to “tiny grass has a life, sincere concern shows under your feet”. But with the Olympics fast approaching, Beijing is trying to correct what’s commonly referred to as “Chinglish”, often humorous, sometimes mysterious translations.4 z$ _. B( J# I2 X" g+ I

David Tool is a teacher in one of dozens of volunteers trying to de model Beijing’s English, his biggest success so far he says, taking the “ANUS” out of the Anus Hospital.! Z" T1 Z' W; n

Across Beijing, the rush is on for better English, from one of the volunteers, “I’m speaking English” to taxi drivers, “all our taxi driver, they’ll come for foreign people to Beijing”. But along the way, some fear a little something is being lost, the old world charm, that special “Chinglish”, John Voss, CNN, Beijing.
