Pull and push are two distinct principles in production. In the conventional production process, you forecast the demand and produce the inventory accordingly well in advance. The marketing or sales staff makes great effort to sell the inventory in the market. In other words, the production pushes the sale.

In contrast, in pull production, which is the core of Just in Time, the realized demand instead of the forecast pulls the production immediately. You just produce the quantity that has been sold. That is, the sale pulls the production. Generally, in Pull production, there is a quantity limit in process.
