英语写作中级技巧：给参加与不参加我口语培训的朋友们的礼物(4)写作不用if
有没搞错,不用IF怎么写？不代表说一个IF都不用，但是在此给大家另外一个思路，如何转换。如果你是今天从这一篇开始读我的文章的话，请尽量从上一章开始，不然你会不明白此文用意。IF并不能说是一个完全绝对化的口语词，但用多或者写作时一开始就想写IF，则会用滥，影响行文。最近一直在给准备考试的学生教写作，其实我们中国人在对付这类考试时，就算写了大篇从句，but也有，定语从句也有，if也用，也是可以拿到一个中等或者中上等分数的。以雅思考试为例，７分都是搞得定的。但是从学术研究与论文的角度，这种写法是绝对不够用的。不过各位在德国的同学，我亲自的感受是德国人的英语口语可以，但是写作则是非常非常一般，甚至说是那种国际大公司高级team leader写的英语东西也看得让人感觉像小学生的人也不在少数。毕竟写作上，他们也没有什么真正锻炼的机会。所以大家平和心态，只要持续的学习英语的听说读写，以自己的实际目标出发往上走，就一定可以对付职场。我相信我写的这些从句代替的东西，对要去英语国家学习，以及想在德国写好英语文章的同学来说会是很好的参考资料。
1) 原句: If you fail to talk to her , the company will give you troubles.
Change: Failure to talk to her will result in troubles from the company.
2) 原句：IF we want to buy that book, we must pay for it.
Change: The way to buy the book is to pay for it .
3) 重点中之重点：如果IF是用在条件句中（适用虚拟语气中），动词是were, should, had ,could等助动词时，IF是可以省略的，但此时后面的助动词提前到主语前面
原句：If I had known you had company, I would not have dropped in .
解析：此句为虚拟语气，德国中的虚拟语气的规则和用法和英语几乎是完全相同的，但唯一的不同就是词形的变化而已。相信大家都非常清楚德语的虚拟语气，所以如果遇到此类情况，则可以按此规则
变形：
Change: Had I known you had company, I would not have dropped in.
还有一种写法和说法，是英语中用得特别特别频繁，但是好多人可能已经忘记了为什么。在此可以看例子：
If anyone should come in my absence, please tell him to wait.
Change: Should anyone come in my absence, please tell him to wait.
４） 又要提到用独立主格结构或者利用现在分词，过去分词来代替IF的用法了。大家如果留心，会发现高级写作中，大部分从句都被现在分词或者过去分词作伴随状态或者状语而代替，原因就是分词用法非常巧妙，美观，对行文和理解的帮助也非常大。在此我要提供给大家一个思路，就是写任何从句时，都想想是否可以用分词结构来代替。分词的用法我们是清楚的，但是真正有多少人会写出来，就是个问题。
If words are taken out of context, they are not very likely to mean the same as they do when they are in context
Change: Words taken out of context do not always mean what they do in context
以上四点中，有两点都涉及到语法内容，下面留小作业，希望大家可以试试看自已的写作水平：
1) If you break the law ,you may be arrested
2) If the government investigates, the prices will stop increasing. That is the only way. (合并为一句话，去IF)
3) If they should believe that the time will soon be ripe for intervention, they would be faced by a large army.
4) If you turn to the left, you will find the bank
5) When we compare him with his brother, he is extremely intelligent.

写得好，不过第５句这样写可以，但最好不要用ing的结构，请再想想：）试一下别的方法。 第２句的写法中，如果将后面你写的that gover....从句改为一个更短更简洁的写法就最好了：） 再试试。嗯，从句能改成短语，名词则最好看。 我有不同意见， 也不知道对不对，说出来大家讨论一下:
1) By breaking the law you may be arrested.
or
Breaking the law may lead to arrest.
2) The government's investigation is the only way to stop the prices from increasing.
3) 4) (I agree with learnEnglish)
5) He is extremely intelligent in comparison with his brother. 看来第５句的写法大家都还没猜想到最好的方法。提示一下，如果可以，请用一个过去分词结构来改第５句，效果会最好。我出的每一道题都代表一个小思路哈哈，第４是就是用的现在分词，第５题则是过去分词：）有没想到呢？ good good
