I have an o2 contract with the number 0176 22xx xxxx and sending SMS to China
only worked from July 2005 (as I registered the contract) until December 20th, 2005.
Although I already contacted the o2 support team it still doesn't work and they didn't
give me an explanation for the failure.
Now I'm using a Tchibo prepaid card with the number 0176 52xx xxxx and sometimes
it works, sometimes not.
Maybe some o2 number blocks work, others not. If your BF has the chance to test it
with a Loop or Tchibo card that doesn't start with 0176 2xxx xxx he may be lucky and
can send SMS to China again. When one of his friends has such a card (so he doesn't
have to buy it just for testing), it's definitely worth a try.
I've already posted this problem in German mobile forums, but couldn't get an explanation
or a solution for the problems. It seems to be a general problem at the moment....
